Some other ideas are:

  • Buy a box of the healthy cereal at your local health food store for something easy. Some grocery stores carry "healthy" cereal now. Check the labels for salt, fat and sugar content. I look for non-hydrogenated oils, sea salt and "good" sugars like malted barley, rice syrup, evaporated cane juice, molasses, honey or fructose.
  • If eggs are okay for your particular diet then enjoying a dish of scrambled eggs fortified with Omega-3's can be a great breakfast. I add a little bit of cheese and milk to mine and of course salt and pepper. Try adding cilantro, onions, peppers and tomatoes for a mexican version.
  • Use that leftover rice from dinner for breakfast in the morning. Heat it up and add cinnamon and your favorite healthy sweetner. I like Agave. Pour some milk over it and maybe some berries or nuts and you'll be won over by this delicious treat.
Whenever planning your healthy breakfast menu, especially when you are trying new things try to add one new healthy recipe over time, say one a week. You may not be able to follow the above plan all in one week but may use one new recipe once or twice a week. When I plan my menu I look at what I may be doing that day and make sure that I don't plan on a difficult breakfast when I need to get out the door early that day. Good luck to you in your healthy endeavors.
